Bear Care children are learning!

Nurturing Your Infant’s Growth, Discovery, and Exploration

At Bear Care, we understand that each infant is a unique and capable learner, deserving of a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment. Our program, designed for children from 6 weeks to 24 months, draws on best practices in Canadian early childhood education to support each child’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth.

Infants as Active Learners

Infants as Active Learners

We respect infants as capable and active participants in their own learning journey. The infant does not need to be “taught” lessons or content. The infant is respected as an already very competent learner, and is allowed, and encouraged, to explore, play, discover and practice in ways, and on a schedule, that best fits his or her emerging abilities, interests and skills.

Building Strong Attachments

Building Strong Attachments

A positive relationship between infants and their caregivers is essential – it is critical to healthy growth, development and learning. Relationship-building is the core of our approach. The caregiving teacher is the most important part of the learning environment for the infant.

Child-Centered Curriculum

Child-Centered Curriculum

The infant’s needs, interests, and abilities are at the heart of our curriculum. The design and development of curriculums is based upon knowledge of the sequence and milestones of infant development combined with an understanding of the presenting needs and interests of the individual infants.

Safe, Explorative Environments

Safe, Explorative Environments

Safety, discovery, and exploration are central to our learning spaces. Spaces and places have developmentally appropriate toys and furnishings that will accommodate the needs of crawlers, walkers and almost-walkers.

Family-Centric Approach

Family-Centric Approach

Families are vital to a child’s development. Daily communication between parents and program staff ensures that the well-being of the child remains a priority.
